What is your sign?
For those that come here often, you know that when we have a special series, it is common for us to turn to our friend and celebrated designer Chris Mackey. When we decided that we would like to do our very own Zodiac series, we knew that his intricate designs and incredible detail would make this a special collection.

Here are some design notes from Chris Mackey:
Although Aquarius is represented by a water carrier, it turns out the “water bearer” is a misnomer. He’s actually a “cup bearer” and his name is Ganymede, a young shepherd (and prince) from Phrygia.
The king of the gods (Zeus/Jupiter) became an admirer of the youth for his purity of spirit and beauty so he transformed into a great eagle and swooped down to earth to snatch up the boy and bring him back to the pantheon. He became his personal cup bearer where he pours wine and mead (a honey wine) from his amphora into the cups of the gods.
So in truth he’s pouring alcohol out of that pitcher rather than water, but the whole attribute of water being the purifier and essence of life was actually honey wine. Of course honey shares those honors with water as a symbol of life and procreation.
